Meet HERO Bakeshop

Every purchase supports a single mother.

It started with a cookie. It grew into a mission.

The Story Behind Hannah Cakes

Hannah Cakes began with a simple act of care.

While living in the Tetons, I continued one of my favorite Christmas traditions: baking cookies for my friends. This particular year my friend Hannah had multiple food allergies and sensitivities, and I wanted to create something delicious she could enjoy, too.

One of my favorite holiday cookies was Russian Tea Cakes, also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies. The traditional recipe contained nuts, which Hannah couldn't eat.

Then I had an idea: What if I replaced the nuts with hemp seeds?

To my delight, the hemp seeds created that same delicious, nutty flavor—without the nuts!

And just like that, Hannah Cakes were born.

What began as a homemade Christmas gift would eventually become the foundation of something much bigger.

How HERO Bakeshop Was Born

At the time, I was expecting.

During my pregnancy and after his birth, I continued to experience domestic violence. That summer, my son's father tried to kill me twice.

When our baby was just seven months old, he walked out on us. I had been a stay-at-home mother, and suddenly he drained and closed our joint checking account, the car he had given me was taken away by him, and he changed the locks on our home were changed. All within 5 days.

I was left to figure out how to provide for my baby boy.

So I turned to something I had already created: Hannah Cakes.

I founded HERO Bakeshop as a way to provide for my son and create financial independence as a single mother.

What began with one cookie grew into a successful allergy-friendly bakery.

From the beginning, my vision extended beyond baking delicious cookies. I wanted to create meaningful, flexible paid work for other single mothers, too.

Because I understood firsthand how quickly a mother's financial security could disappear—and how important having an independent source of income could be.

A Pause, Not the End

Years later, after raising my son exclusively from birth, our lives were shattered when his father used his financial resources and the family court system to take him from me.

The devastating separation brought HERO Bakeshop, the successful business I had built to provide for my son, to a halt.

It never took away my vision.

Today, I'm rebuilding HERO with the same determination that inspired its beginning and an even greater commitment to creating economic opportunities for single mothers.

Every purchase supports a single mother.

The devastating separation brought the business I had worked so hard to build to a halt.

It never took away the vision.

Today, I'm rebuilding HERO Bakeshop.

We're bringing Hannah Cakes back to market, beginning with events, farmers markets, and community partnerships.

And the vision is bigger than ever.

HERO is being rebuilt to become a nationally recognized, premium allergy-friendly bakery brand that creates meaningful, flexible paid employment for single mothers.

Because single mothers don't need another inspirational slogan.

They need opportunity.

They need income.

They need work that fits the realities of raising children.

And consumers deserve delicious products that allow them to put their purchasing power behind something meaningful.

At HERO, supporting single mothers isn't a charitable add-on.

It's baked into the business.
